Welcome to Anson County



Anson County was named in honor of a British Admiral, First Lord of the Admiralty, Lord George Anson. It was Lord Anson who commanded the vessel that brought the Princess Charlotte of Germany to her future husband, King George the third. Germans, and many British settlers emigrated to the area surrounding Anson County. In 1750, Anson County was formed from Bladen County. The County Seat is Wadesboro.
