Newspaper ) TANKARD, Bath-- Mrs. Rachel Wallace Tankard, 77, of Main Street, died at 11:15 p.m. Saturday at Rowan Memorial Hospital in Salisbury. She was born July 25, 1912, in Beaufort County, a daughter of William Thomas and Delia Woolard Wallace. She was employed as a teacher's aide at Bath Elemtary School and former owner of Old Town Gift Shop. She was a tour guide with Historical Homes in Bath. She was a member of Bath Christian Church, amember of the church choir, the Colonial Book Club and Bath Garden Club. She married John Harvey Tankard, who died in 1946. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Rachel) Young of 1116 Merry Hill Dr., High Point; her mother of Bath; three sisters, Mrs. Edna Noe and Mrs Josephine Simmons, both of Garner and Mrs. Nancy Rhem of Ponzer; five brothers, Fenner Wallace of Washington, N.C., Jack and James Howard Wallace, both of Bath, Leon Wallace of Kinston and Dan Wallace of Goldsboro; and two grandchildren. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Paul Funeral Home Chapel in Washington, N.C. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Paul Funeral Home tonight from 7 to 9. Sechrest Funeral Home in High Point is in charge of local arrangements.
