The
Beaufort County Genealogical Society met at Brown Library on 12-3-02. At 7:00 pm President Ann Basnight welcomed
19 members and guests and expressed hope that everyone had a nice holiday.
The
minutes of the previous meeting were approved and accepted as read. The treasurer’s report was given which
included the sale of 52 copies of the 1887-1906 Newspaper Book.
Mary
Disharoon presented Journals and News Letters.
Of particular interest was an article in the NGS Bulletin concerning the
use of census records. Another article
discussed the use of clothing in older pictures to date the time frame.
Dot
Moate, Ann Basnight, Louise Cowell and other BCGS members who attended the NCGS
meeting in Raleigh November 8 and 9 expressed their particular appreciation for
certain parts on the program.
OLD BUSINESS:
The trip to Archives
is scheduled for January 25, 2003.
Our January meeting
will be in the Deed Room, Beaufort County Court House at 7:00 p.m. on January
7, 2003.
NEW BUSINESS:
None.
Russell Tyson
motioned, Evelyn Cutler seconded to adjourn at 7:15p.m. We enjoyed the ensuing social and the
opportunity to visit, share information and exchange ideas.
