NORTH  CAROLINA

 

            In the Name of God Amen, I Josiah Mohoon of the County Halifax, in the province afores, being sick and not sound of body but of sound and perfect mind and memory thanks be to God. But calling to mind the mortality of mankind and knowing it is appointed for all man once to die Do make, ordain, constitute and appoint this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following to wit.

 

Item:    I give and bequeath to my son Josiah Mohoon his Heirs or assigns my Plantation with a hundred and fifty acres of land from the [first / fish / finss / finsh / ?] Branch below my plantation in the county of Halifax,

 

Item:    I give and bequeath to my son James Mohoon his Heirs or assigns the other half of my land containing one hundred fifty acres more or less,

 

Item:    I give and bequeath to my son John Mohoon his Heirs or assigns my Horse and one feather bed and furniture, one pot, one dish, one wagon two spunes and two plaits,

 

Item:    I give and bequeath to my daughter Ann Mohoon her Heirs or assigns one feather bed and furniture, one iron pot, one pewter dish, one wagon, two plaits and two spoones,

 

Item:    I give and bequeath to my daughter Edee Mohoon her Heirs or assigns one feather bed and furniture, one iron pot, one pewter dish, one Wagon, two plaits and two spoones,

 

Item:    I give and bequeath to my son Jesse Mohoon his Heirs or assigns one Mare and all her increase, one iron pott, one pewter dish, one Wagon, two plaits and two spoons,

 

Item:    The remainder part of my Estate that is not given in legacies, to give all my Children an equal learning. Then the remainder to be Equally Divided among all my children.

 

Item:    Then, lastly I Nominate Constitute and appoint my two friends Nedem Bryant, Elias Bryant, Thomas Hyman as my Executors to this my Last Will and Testament hereby revoking and disannulling all others heretofore by me made. In Witness where of I have herewith set my hand and seal the First Day of January 1772.
